I am trying to find a way to divorce my "husband" of 23 years. We have been separated for 9 years. We do not live together. He refuses to sign a parenting plan and have it notarized. I do not receive child support, and have not in many years. I provide full financial support for my children. At this point, 2 "kids" are now adults, and we only have one minor child. She will be 18 in just over a year. I would like to finally get a divorce, but with his retisence to assist me with the paperwork, it will take about as long through the court system to divorce him as it would to await her 18th birthday. Is there a way to waive our rights to financial issues with him, so that the divorce can be finalized? This has been drawn out long enough. Simple divorces are relatively inexpensive, but with his attitude, it will be very expensive, unless we can forgo any financial dealings.

This person is still your husband as far as the law is concerned. You don't need your estranged spouse's cooperation to get a divorce. Retain a divorce attorney in your state and serve your husband with a summons and divorce petition to get the ball rolling!
